Apply for your state exam
Application to take your state license examination, your notarized signature, application fee and a fee for the initial license period together with fingerprints taken within the previous 60 days on a specified fingerprint card must be properly completed. You must submit completed application to the Florida Division of Real Estate for processing. After your application to take the state examination has been approved by the Florida Division of Real Estate, the Division will notify Assessment Systems Inc. (ASI), the state-contracted testing service that administers the examination. ASI will then notify you of your approval. You may then make a convenient appointment to sit for the examination. An examination fee will be collected by ASI at the time you schedule your examination. The state examination consists of 100 multiple choice questions; a grade of 75 is required to pass. The examination contains 45 questions on Florida Real Estate License Law, 45 questions on real estate principles and practices and 10 on real estate math.
To maintain your license you will need to successfully complete a 45 hour post license educational course within the initial 18 to 24 month license period. There is no grace period beyond expiration of the license! We strongly recommend you complete this course as soon as possible after receiving your initial license. Subsequent license renewals (those following the initial license period) require completion of 14 hours of continuing education, which can also be completed through live classroom attendance or distance learning; no examination is required.
