National Nurses Week: Ways to Show Appreciation to SWFL Nurses

National Nurses Week

National Nurses Week takes place every year from May 6 through May 12, providing an opportunity to recognize these vital healthcare employees for all of the great work that they do throughout the year. The celebration takes on added meaning this year, with so many nurses and healthcare workers risking their health to care for the many communities impacted by COVID-19. Whether you come from a family of nurses or you simply want to thank local nurses for their efforts, your support means more now than ever. Our real estate agents have put together a guide for how to show your thanks and support to SWFL nurses for National Nurses Week.

  • Show Your Support for Local Hospitals
Even if you don't know any nurses personally, there are several excellent hospitals close to Naples homes for sale where you can show your support. Lee Memorial Hospital offers a high standard of care in Fort Myers, with an extensive network of healthcare facilities spread throughout the area. NCH Baker Hospital Downtown is your source for healthcare in Naples, with a convenient downtown location for the main hospital. Gulf Coast Medical Center, also located in Ft. Myers offers a wide variety of emergency care options, along with facilities for complex neurological procedures. All of these local facilities are on the front lines of the response to COVID-19.

  • The Gift of Food Never Goes Out of Style
If you want a tangible way to say "thank you," then it's hard to top sending a fresh meal from a local restaurant. Healthcare workers are being stretched to the limit, working extensive hours under difficult circumstances. Ordering food can provide a sense of normalcy, and some much-needed nourishment during a busy day. By having food delivered from local restaurants, you're also supporting some of the many SWFL small businesses.

  • Reach Out to a Friend or Family Member Who Is a Nurse
Do you have friends or family members who work in nursing? Now is the perfect time to reach out, show your support, and let them know that you're thinking of them. Whether it's a friendly phone call, a video chat, or even a good old-fashioned letter in the mail, your words of support show nurses that they're not alone as they provide help for local communities. While you're reaching out, see if they could use a hand with day-to-day needs while they're busy with work. Watching kids for a few hours, taking care of tasks around the house, or making sure that pets are fed gives your favorite nurses one less reason for worry.

  • Donate Blood
Hospitals throughout the area and beyond need blood donations, and many blood drives are happening to help with supply. If possible, donating blood is a great way to give back to the healthcare community.

  • Follow CDC Guidelines
No matter what else you do to show support, following CDC guidelines to limit the spread of COVID-19 is one of the best ways to make life easier for nurses. Stay healthy, stay safe, and lessen the load on local hospitals in the process.

With so many excellent healthcare facilities staffed by skilled professionals, your health is always in good hands when you call this corner of Florida home. Contact us to buy and sell homes throughout Southwest Florida communities.
